Ambulance: Pedestrian taken to Salford Royal after Huddersfield Road collision

An ambulance response followed a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a car on Huddersfield Road on Thursday, 27 August. The two reports use different location descriptions: one places the incident in Ashton-under-Lyne, while the other describes it as being in Stalybridge. Both reports identify Huddersfield Road and describe the same emergency response, including a large police presence and an air medical resource.

The North West Ambulance Service said it sent several resources to the scene, including the air ambulance. It said the patient was transported to Salford Royal with a serious head injury. What happened

Police said the vehicle involved was a Toyota Yaris and that it was believed to have been turning off Huddersfield Road when it struck the pedestrian. The driver remained at the scene, and no arrests had been made when the reports were published.

Part of the road was closed during the response. The reports differ on the closure’s status: one said part of Huddersfield Road remained closed for several hours, while the other said a section near St Paul’s Church and Demesne Drive remained closed while a cordon was in place.
